Smile Patrick James Eggle Saluda Cocobolo & Italian Spruce

Hi folks,

Up for sale is this stunning PJE Saluda custom. The guitar was hand built for me two years ago and is a highly spec'd out Saluda cutaway model. Pat is a British boutique luthier with a worldwide reputation for building some of the most beautiful looking and sounding guitars around.

Current list price is £5500 ($9140)

I'd like around £3200 ($5300)

This is a Grand Auditorium/mid jumbo sized guitar with cocobolo back and sides and Italian Alpine spruce top. The binding is myrtle and the fingerboard is gorgeous figured ebony - couldn't really photograph this feature though.

The nut is 1 3/4 inches and the string spacing measures 57.5mm, so perfect for fingerstyle. The neck is slim and wide, very easy to play and the set up and finish is perfect.

It has a Highlander IP2 pickup installed and comes with the Hiscox Artist series case with green velvet interior.

Sounds: wow! One of the richest and deepest basses and yet sweetest singing trebles I've ever heard. And the mids are perfectly balanced too. String separation is fantastic and the dynamic range is huge. Here's a little sound clip:

I'm really sad to be selling this guitar but I need to raise cash for recording my second album and I've switched back to playing only cedar-topped guitars, so this one has to go to a good home.

I am happy to ship the guitar worldwide so please get in touch to discuss price and insurance etc. For direct enquiries:

wow that is some piece of timber.... Sometimes just by looking at a beautifully made instrument, you can just, well, kinda tell that how it sounds would be anything but ordinary....

Very nice.

Best of luck with the sale, and may she go to a loving home !

Ben, I'm shocked that you had to put this incredible guitar up for sale. I know this must have hurt, but I understand needing the $$$ get the second album going. (For the record, I have your first, "Preliminaries", and it is just plain outstanding!) Best of luck on your sale. Heck, the price is worth it for the "mojo" alone.
