Default Watching Eclipse Without Glasses

If I watch the Eclipse without protective glasses will I go blind? What if I take off my regular glasses so I can't see it very well?

There was a very visible full eclipse here about 20 years ago.
The media was full of dire warnings not to even try and glimpse it with the naked eye, nor with sunglasses; which are not NEARLY dark tinted enough.
Staring at the sun can burn a blind spot onto your retina. You should use something the strength of welding goggles.
The advice, (which I took) was to look at it reflected in water, eg a paddling pool. That worked.

My bad. Thought I might spark a little humor but the attempt was eclipsed by the sad fact that in today's world it might reasonably be viewed as a serious question. Today's world being one in which 7% of Americans think chocolate milk comes from brown cows.

At least one very public figure decided to disregard all the warnings...and while that person didn't take a lingering look, it reflects something that is very common in the US, and something that doesn't seem so funny.

There are many statistics that reveal an appalling level of ignorance (and/or unaware reactance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactance_(psychology) ) in the US, not just the brown cow number (I am surprised that it isn't up around 25% or 30%, based upon other stats I have seen over the years). Our failure to provide sufficient support for public schools, and the watering down of their curriculum is bearing predictable, distasteful fruit.

I took a piece of window glass and covered a portion with candle black (same thing I did in 1970). My wife looked at me like I was crazy. It's actually perfect though!

It doesn't come from brown cows ???

Actually I did not have any eclipse glasses so my viewing was restricted to the couple of minutes of totality. Which was pretty cool

Sorry that I failed to catch on that you were being deliberately deadpan in your OP. My bad.
I do a lot of that myself, but sometimes am really dumb when someone else is going for a giggle !

I wonder how the "Flat Earthers" explain the eclipse.

The same group that faked the moon landing flew a alien space craft in front of the sun.

Then you could be Blind Melon Chitlin.

For the uninitiated, that's a Cheech and Chong reference.
