Default Saving pics, videos, etc. Where????

How, where, what is the best place? I have Dropbox which I love, its very simple, but very limited on space unless you pay top dollar. I also have Google drive, which to me is not that user friendly. Switched to an iPhone last year and have the Apple cloud, which is only good for Apple. Have Flicker and Google pics, Photobucket. Seems like I have pics and vids everywhere.

So, what do you do? Some type of external drive of your own vs. cloud service that could sell out to someone and leave you hanging?

In my opinion, an external drive is safest. No worries about policy changes etc.

I use 2 external hard drives for permanent storage because external hard drives have a reputation for failing. I have one continuously connected to my computer for ongoing backup and the 2nd one for monthly backups. The redundancy is easy to implement and gives me peace of mind that I won't lose valuable files. I also use Apple iCloud for mobile devices in between hard backups. I use imgur for posting and sharing.

I use an external drive. My most precious content also goes on to an encrypted flash drive that I always have with me when I am away from home. I would never trust a cloud service as a backup solution. I only use the cloud for sharing.

i keep a small amount of my stuff on the cloud but i also have an external 2tb drive that i keep as a backup. note that it is mechanical and could fail too. some people even have 2 externals just in case. i've switched to imgur after spending days downloading from photobucket.

play music!

I have a fair number of external hard drives which I use for backup and storage. They are fairly reasonably priced these days.

I was more than a little miffed with Photobucket for recently flaking out on the 3rd party sharing thing and then expecting me to cough up $399 to allow this service. The only reason I ever signed up for Photobucket was so that I could post photos on the AGF.

I do know that there is a way to upload a photo onto the AGF more directly now.

Actually, you can install iCloud on Windows and access your iCloud files there too. Or simply log onto iCloud.com from a Windows computer.

As for storage, I prefer my own external drive, backed up along with my regular hard drive. I only copy files to cloud-based services if I want to link them on the web or need to access them on the web.
