Default In need of some scrap spruce for a repair

Well I just bought a 1988 Taylor 610 with a top crack by the fretboard extension and am going to try and to the repair myself. It appears to be a very similar repair job to what is found on the frets.com page here: http://www.frets.com/FretsPages/Luth...topcrack2.html

Judging by that repair article I'm going to need myself a small amount of spruce, perhaps an off cut from a top and a piece of a brace. Wanted to see if anyone on here had some that was going into the burn pile that I could buy off of you. Would love to be able to get what I need for about $10 to cover a small flat rate USPS box and a little extra as a thank you.

Heres a couple pics of the actual guitar for good measure

What do you need scraps for?

How big do you need?

I think you could glue those cracks and cleat them underneath - because of the type of break, you might want to beef it up underneath (that's not a very resonant spot on the soundboard, anyway)

My thought was to do a repair similar to the frets.com article I linked. In Franks article he seemed to imply that trusting glue and cleats alone might be too much stress and instead reinforced with a piece of spruce glued in perpendicular to the top. Heres a pic of the way Frank reinforced the area around the soundhole.

And heres the reinforcement he put along the neck block that appears to basically be a section of a brace.

Ahhhhh gotcha.

That's what I was leaning toward in my comment. I was confused thinking you wanted to replace a section of soundboard.

Your local lumberyard/Home Depot has spruce or pine that would work more than well enough.
