Thanks so much for the order! They will ship out first thing tomorrow morning! Pressed archtops are usually laminated affairs, although the curved/bent flattop thing you're describing is a Selmer sort of thing, and there is a name for that kind of top, but I'm clueless at the moment. I'll bet Howard K knows............... HE |

I really enjoyed that one! And, I watched several of the other videos you posted as well. The amount of fine talent that "turns up" around here never ceases to amaze me. Nice work! Taylor (but not that good of a) player :-)

Tony plays electric. He has a guitar by a luthier I know, Gary Garcia.

Tony Blair has also been seen with an acoustic on occasion... I believe in the photo I saw it was a Taylor. Something about playing as entertainment for his kids.... Gotta' love a world leader that takes time to do that.

Perhaps the best demonstration............
.....of an old archtop finger-picked live is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NabVzgONnk The Inimitable Craig Ventresco, with his hybrid flat-pick fingerstyle, playing music that was old when the guitar he's playing was new! Enjoy! http://www.craigventresco.com/ HE |

Well, I hate to follow Howard, Craig, and Frosty, but folks need to know that one can play badly on an archtop, too. My 1943 "Banner" L-50:

So did you learn that arrangement from Libba or TE?? :-) Sounds great! You just need to slooooooooow down and not be such a hurry, but you knew that. We need to get together so I can play all your old toys.........I'll even put some nails on. HE |

Yes! I'm off to South Dakota later this week (to speak/play at the Nat. Music Museum) and then the holidays cause trouble. So, let's put our thinking caps on and figure when we can make time. Take care.
