Default 1945 000-18 Martin

Early '45 000-18 in original condition, plate, bridge, nut, pickguard, etc. - played a lot for a reason. Focused and classic Martin sound. (See photos at https://flic.kr/s/aHsm4wivTe for wear and condition.) Just had a neck set and tune up including a repaired back crack, B-string repair, new compensated saddle and first 5 frets replacement (all others are original brass). Work done by respected Asheville luthier, Jack Dillen. New Willi's antique acoustic pins. I also have the original tuners in the case, as they were replaced with replica Golden Age vintage tuners. Will ship in a new Hiscox Pro II OM case. See link for pics. Not too many of these currently on the market - esp. without major issues and changed out parts. $5,600 + actual shipping. Happy to answer any questions. No trades. thanks, Gill

I have a 000-18 from the same time period. Neck reset, refret, new tuners, etc. Holy moly does it sounds wonderful. And light, my word it's light as a feather.

nwapoolguy - Thanks, you got my curiosity up about the weight. Just checked on my digital scale - 3 lbs 6.9 oz. I also want to mention that this one has the steel Tbar neck reinforcement.

What's the nut width? Were brace still scalloped in 45? And where in ND are you? I'm visiting in Winston-Salem for the weekend.

Nut width is the standard 1-11/16ths of this period. The change from the wider prewar nut (1-3/4") occurred in the later half of 1939. Bracing was changed from scalloped to tapered in late '44 so this 1945 model has fairly aggressive tapered braces. Most of the Martin Gurus say that by 1948-49, tapered bracing had disappeared and morphed into straight braces. The scale length is 24.9" (short scale). Hope this helps. Gill
