Only to you. Pray tell, how is a "proud parent" collectivist unless you're thinking of some "takes a village" drivel.

Two states where I am totally perplexed as to why they have so much pride is Texas and Alaska. I would love to visit every state eventually, but those two would be at the absolute end of my list.

imagine if someone saw an unknown baby, and it was a really, really great baby. methinks it would be odd for them to say, "i'm so proud of that baby!"

feeling pleasure or satisfaction over something regarded as highly honorable or creditable to oneself (often followed by of, an infinitive, or a clause).
Quote:
having or showing self-respect or self-esteem.

highly gratifying to the feelings or self-esteem

best post in this thread, you pride haters do indeed seem to have a different definition of pride. Its not about superiority or anything like that

If they had nothing to do with it, why would they feel pride. I freely admit I have no pride in my neighbor's kids.

I'd venture a guess that more problems in the world stem from a lack of shame as opposed to an excess of pride.

Whole-heartedly agree!

I think the word these "anti-proud" people might be searching for is "haughty"

I think this pretty much sums up the entire subject of this thread...
