Default Gordon Giltrap

I don't know whether you're aware of this chap in the USA, but Gordon Giltrap is a well known British acoustic guitarist and has been around since the mid 60's.

Went to see him last night in Doncaster, and he was sublime.

With a small (ish) audience, he was also intimate, amusing and skilled beyond belief.

He is well represented on YouTube and I recommend you give him a watch. He was one of the reasons I went down the 12 string path in the mid 60's buying the Eko Ranger, the only guitar available with built-in ballast!

Thanks Gordon, for a wonderful night.

Good call, I saw him at a show in Leeds, back in the spring of 1986 - Great show.

Gordon wrote and recorded a tune years ago that is on a Fingerstyle Guitar magazine CD (#38) that I love and use when I need to mellow out. It's a very soothing flowing tune called "On Camber Sands". Interesting guy. I've read a bit about him.

Sounds like a great show! Cool!

...Another Giltrap fan here! I discovered him a year or so ago and was hooked. I just love his compositions - they seem to conjure up such beautiful images...

I am currently working on "Isabella Wedding" transcription I got from "Acoustic" magazing (DADGAD) - awesome piece...

Yeah, he played "On Camber Sands" the other night and it's very beautiful.

He was surprised that I remembered him for his first ever track released on an LP (now called 'vinyl') sampler in the mid 60's.

I'm still stunned with what we saw and heard. Sadly a most under rated performer and writer.

Have fun . . .

I had one of his "new age" releases back in the mid to late 80's (Elegy, I believe) and it was OK, but heavily processed guitar sound....I'll have to check out what he's doing now....thanks for the reminder....
