Going to a Wildwood but probably won't play anything
I've convinced my wife to let me go to Wildwood music in Ohio this weekend. But here's the thing, I probably won't play anything. I already own two acceptable, though low end Martin acoustics. Though I will find all kinds of wonderful guitar at wildwood, I'm not going to be buying anything. I don't want to be someone that just takes advantage of Wildwood's hospitality to test drive wonderful guitars with no intent to buy.
So, for those who may buy from them, rest assured that I will not be risking putting a scratch on your guitar this weekend. Drool marks on my shirt are another story.

That is very decent and considerate of you but I don't believe you can resist the siren call to touch me, touch me, TOUCH ME.

Isn't that kind of like going to a really nice restaurant and not ordering anything because you have some decent food in the fridge?

I am going to be surprised if you stick to your guns on this one.
You must be really afraid you'll be tempted beyond your ability to resist GAS. There's a lot of nice Martin's at Wildwood. One has your name on it.

Feel free to play some beautiful guitars (especially check out the custom Martin OM-28H 12 fret-it's an amazing 'little' guitar) and enjoy Don Marty and Brian's hospitality as well. Tell 'em Lee and Jamie say hi!

Let me know how that works for you. I'm about 40 minutes from them and have never visited. It's on my to do list this winter. I'm kind of like you in that I will have some restraint when I visit. I'm not the guy to grab everything within reach and pound away. I do really want to know what the next level guitars sound and feel like and there's only one way to find out.
If you can, report back after your visit and let us know how it went. Have fun! Dan |

Sometimes I like to go to the grocery store to look at produce with no intention of buying and eating any of their vegetables or fruits. I have two apples and a radish at home, though they are relatively small.

Hmm....
This is a Joke right? Guitars are not "paintings in a museum" .. They are meant to be held and played to be appreciated ! Although, I commend you on your courtesy to the retailer... Just leave your wallet at home! |

Sometimes, I go to fancy restaurants just to take in the wonderful aromas. My mouth waters as I stare at those exquisite filet mignons, lobster tails, and mile high cheesecakes. But, I've had really good steaks before, so no need to indulge this time....

If you're just going to "window shop", you won't see all that much. They have some great guitars in the display cases downstairs, but the lion's share of their inventory is upstairs, and 95% of that is in labeled cases. The Wildwood Gang (Marty, Don & Brian) are wonderful and gracious hosts, and though I have purchased 3-4 guitars from them over the 25-years I've been visiting them, most of my visits were just visits. They don't mind test-drivers at all...enjoy!
Oh BTW, my last visit was just meant to be a visit too. Here's how that worked out...
