"The Highwayman" by Jimmy Webb Tutorial
I was asked recently by a YouTube friend from Australia if I could make a tutorial on Jimmy Webb's "The Highwayman," and so I have put the above video together to do that. This is the Show & Tell thread from April on "The Highwayman:" http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...ght=Highwayman I hope this might be of interest to folks. Thanks in advance for watching. - Glenn

Cool. I naively always assumed a Travis pick was just a Travis pick, so I learned something new. Thanks, Glenn. Very helpful tutorial.

Yes, I believe Travis did have a pick; in fact, I think Lester Flatt had a pick, too, the Flatt pick! Glad you liked the video! I do hope it will be helpful! - Glenn

VERY well done, Glenn. Being completely selfish, I wish you did this on every number!

Thanks for watching and thanks for the suggestion! I should probably go through the videos and find out which ones have the highest views and think about doing tutorials at least for the ones that people seem to be the most interested in. It turns out that "The Highwayman" has a fair number of views. I also did a tutorial for Gordon Lightfoot's "Pussywillows, Cattails" because it has a lot of views. My part 1 of Don McLean's "Vincent" has over 7,600 views, so for some reason, people are interested in that tutorial. I never know what people are really interested in until I throw something out and see what happens. Thanks for watching and commenting, Kerbie! - Glenn

Thanks Glenn for your generosity in teaching these numbers. You are as talented/skilled in teaching as you are a musician. (Hope that came out right...but you know what I mean).
Wonderful way to learn songs. Glad to see you back in the saddle. Roger |

I'm so glad you weighed in on this tutorial. I'm really pleased that you like it. And I do agree, when you listen to someone talk to you for a while to provide instruction, you do begin to get to know the teacher on a more personal level. I always felt that I knew Pete Huttlinger and Al Petteway because I have spent quite a bit of time with their instructional DVDs. I had to do some editing to remove some stuff I viewed as extraneous in order to make the video fit into the 15-minute max. time frame for a video like this on YouTube. In the end, keeping the video to less than 15 minutes, I think, is a good approach, so that you don't waste people's time and so that a teacher is more focused in his or her presentation. Thanks again for watching and commenting here, Fred! - Glenn
