another huge fan of powered string winders here, faster and more accurate control of the string as you wind onto the peg. Wonderful tool.
If it's dumb I guess I like dumb useful stuff.

Years ago there was a gizmo called Twanger prax axe.
Found a pic here. https://goo.gl/images/PjwME5 Basically it was six strings on a board designed To be worn on a belt so one could practice anywhere. Can't imagine why they went out of buisness. |

What I find dumb are the newb complaints that they 'don't make any sound'... Its finger picking training. If you're still working on fretting cleanly you shouldn't be moving on to portable training like this. |

Totally disagree on this one - one of my favorite accessories!

Clip on Tuners that don't work in a noisy environment. Like the stroboclip ... I don't get it. If I can only use it in a quiet room I may as well use a phone app.

FWIW, I love mine!
But I get it; guitarists are largely a tradition-embracing group. IMO cutaways look goofy. Go figure. Last edited by Tico; 12-14-2017 at 01:46 PM. |

Yeah but, what else are you going to do with all the buzz tail button sets? After living in Nevada for 20 years I ended up with a mayo jar full of them. Apparently our home was built on a nest and we'd get a new crop every year. With kids and dogs any rattlesnakes around the house were dispatched. Then I read the old blues guys put them in their guitars for mojo. I don't know about the mojo, but you should see the look on someone's face when they think the rattle is a pick and shake it out for me...priceless! Oh, and my blues playing seemed to improve overnight???

It's quite another to find someone selling them online - buy one and drop it in your guitar - that's McMOJO®

It's only mojo of if the snake is still attached to the rattle. And moving.

I am a big fan of the powered string winder I bought this summer... don't know why it took me so long to pick up one of these. Makes string changes go faster, and easier to hold the string in place while winding.

My guess is the majority of folks that have an aversion to powered string winders don't change strings on several guitars every week. Yeah I can do it by hand a do a good job at it, but when I need to put new strings on 3 guitars after work one night it's just nicer to be able to do it faster.

If they've improved to the point where one can switch between tunings quickly, or even if they get a guitar to standard tuning quicker than the average player, then cool. |

I sure could have used such a contraption when I was stringing my 12 string the other night...
