Default Pay It Forward

On one of the diving forums I frequent, there is a Pay It Forward Section. It works like this: A person offers up, for free, a piece of gear that he no longer needs. It doesn't have to be in any particular condition, but should be something that might be useful to someone who may not be in a position to get it on his own for some reason. We don't charge postage either. The giver ships at his cost. When I do this, I generally limit the geographic range of the shipping area, but you are certainly free to ship wherever you'd like. To avoid any potential embarrassment, we suggest that respondents contact the giver via PM. I'm proposing we start such a thread here. I'll start.

I've got an iRig Acoustic outfit. It's got the pickup and the iRig Acoustic Stage Control Box. It works just fine, is near brand new, and has only been used a couple of times. I have no need for it and would like to pass it on to someone who may have a need.

Feel free to pile on and get rid of that stuff in your closet that hasn't seen the light of day in years!

bil, I like the spirit of your post and appreciate you starting this thread.

I tried a sound hole tuner for a couple of weeks but decided I didn't like the looks of the small black tab at the sound hole. So I'm back to my Snark. It worked great and I can see it being more useful on stage.

I'll mail this to the first member (lower 48 states) who PM's me.

We already do something similar but it's called a KARMA giveaway. It works a little differently though in that you put your item up and leave it up for a pre-determined time with people saying they want it. After the pre-determined time is over you pick one randomly who 'wins' the item.

This is nice because it makes it more fun and more people get a chance to get the item. They way you did it, it was just blind luck that the first guy that stumbles onto the thread gets the item. Not much fun for the rest. But still a nice gesture, I suppose.

I don't mind paying if forward among my AGF friends, but generally I prefer to do that locally with friends I know even better. I've been able to pass on several guitars that people asked me to find a good home for, together with strings, capos, picks, etc. Much better than letting things sit in a closet or drawer!
