After playing a TON of Eastmans and a few lower priced Martins, a Taylor 210ce is the one that came home with me. Wasn't even close, really.

Used - Gibson J-35 from the mid teens but they are creeping up in price

New - Eastman E6SS-TC - Torrefied Sitka/Mahogany or an E1SS-TC with Sapele.

I prefer short scale mahogany slope shoulder model dreadnoughts.

Default Recording King RD-28

Recording King RD-28. I'm impressed with the Recording King RD-328. I'm a multiple Collings owner btw.
After fret level and set-up and buying a HS case, it's still hundreds less than the Eastman I'd put it up against any Blueridge or Eastman. Had a local shop who sold Eastmans. Had them line up 3 Mahogany's and 3 Rosewood Eastmans. The RK was at least as good and beat some of the others. I'm surprized there's not much mention of the RK's.
