What do you mean by "need to be able to play electrified"? In a full band? Solo singer/songwriter? Duo?

Also, where will he be playing? Church? Noisy bars?

Default OM-21 Special/K&K

I've got the same setup with the K&K PWM running through a Pure XLR preamp and really love it for both the Martin and a Gibson J-45 Standard. The guitar sounds natural, just fuller and louder.
The bass is easily managed.
BTW...I have the Martin OM-21 Special listed here. Have your friend give me a call.
