Default Anyone using a stomp box for gigging?

Just bought a fairly inexpensive SX brand wooden stomp box on Amazon to play around with. Plug it into a amp and pound out foot beats to your hearts content.

Anyone using one of these when gigging? How do you like it? Do you think it adds anything to your songs? What kinds of songs are you using it instead?

It definitely adds a lot if you're playing solo. And you can use it for every song. Just stick it under the foot you normally pat to keep time and it'll automatically stay on the beat. Don't worry about doing anything fancy, just keep time with your foot. I don't use mine very often now because I play and sing through my amp and it only has two inputs.

Peterman Puck N' Stompa bass for me. I use it for everything including when playing in a band I am in that has no drummer.

Yea, tried a few. Some make your hip hurt since
you lean on other during gigs.

I settle on the xlr version of the puck one from Austr.

I made and use all sort of stomp box along the years, to use when playing mainly my swing studies. It goes well with the style.
My regular set-up is a four triggers thingy which is plugged into a sample player.
Lots of possibilities.

I've been using a Porchboard for years:

http://www.porchboard.com

I just tracked down one of their minis, the Micro Bass and I've been practicing with it for a couple of weeks.

I love it! I think it adds a ton to my show. I try to mix it underneath the guitar so it is less of an outright, audible thump and more of an added layer of low end.

I don't use it on every song and I'll vary the playing during any given song.

It can be a bit tiring to do a long show with it since I always play standing up but once I get in good Prorchboard shape I'm ok even for a 4 hour show.

This one really benefits from a subwoofer but there is a switch to change the tone should you not have a sub.

Would you like to borrow a Porchboard?

I will be in Knoxville next weekend.

Wow, that's a gracious offer. Unfortunately I'm probably out of town. Where/when are you performing?

We are moving to Knoxville in September so we are driving down to do some house hunting.

I am bringing all of my guitars but one to my father in law's house near Lexington, KY so they don't go on the moving truck so I could easily include a
Porchboard.

We're getting back Saturday (July 8) night. If you're offering to let me "borrow" it until September, I might take you up on that

I think we are there until 7/13 or 7/14 depending on how much we can get done.

I just got a Micro Bass Porchboard so my old bigger version is just sitting around. It's pretty beat up. I broke the heel rail a few years ago and I've tried to fix that a couple of times. I think I have it stabilized for now! It still sounds good. Just looks pretty beat up. It's probably 10 or so years old!

I'm pretty good at fixing things, I could take a look at it. PM me and tell me what area you're looking at. I just moved from Chicago last summer.

Here's some short reviews on Amazon. Looked interesting to me until I read through a few of them.

SX SBX II Stomp Box

Poor tonality (lack of bottom end), goes through batteries really fast and has no other way to power it were a couple of the immediate negatives that made me lose interest fast.

The two main things I liked about it was the size and price.
