I think that's one of the reasons this forum is so entertaining and enlightening. We get to see artists in their unobserved performances!
Chuck would also say, never wait for inspiration. Get to work and you'll find inspiration in the process. Another thing I think luthiers know full well.
That's brilliant! I'm glad I read that, thank you.

This guitar is really turning out to be something special.

Anyways, it has already been said but you have a great sense of aesthetic or at least are willing to challenge the norm; you bring a breath of fresh air to the scene where would I be able to find more information about your guitars?
Thank you very much for that. Though I've been lurking at guitar shows since the Newport show was in Newport, and I used to post my builds to the mimf forum years ago, this guitar is my debutante entrance into the luthier community. Website and facebook page simmer on the back burner, while I finish stacking up this pile of lumber.

Unique and impressive! My first thought was that if trees were sentient, guitar building beings, that's what their instruments might look like. Strikingly organic aesthetic, looks awesome.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm doing nitro for my first time. I've sprayed dozens of water-based finishes, and I have to say I'm not all that anxious to go to nitro, but feel like it's time. I do hand-rubbed oil varnishes on all my necks,

Thanks! That's a remarkably accurate picture of what I think about when I'm in the process of designing. Very pleased to hear you say it.

I've always used a stacked heel even though it's frowned on by some. I think it's a little more stable and a more efficient use of a dwindling resource; a small token toward good stewardship. The carbon fiber is something I've used for a good while too. I just feel more comfortable with an immobile core.

The cherry burl headstock is sort of my signature. I have a small farm and I don't know if it's terrior, or endemic to the species, but a large percentage of the young black cherry trees on my property have burls.

Spalted maple, faux trussrod cap.

In the raw

and a coffee bean to wake up the design

Upper registers

Hemispherical frets

It's amazing how alive the box has become with the addition of the neck. Just holding it now--small touches on the top, the motion of your hand along the neck--you can feel she wants to sing!

That's a very beautiful sculpture you have created there, jsut fantastic.

As for cherry you may have a disease called Black Knot. It eventually will kill the tree's sadly and is very contagious to other cherry's in the area.

I've actually worked as a sculptor and 3d prototyper for quite a few years and I definitely take a sculptural approach to guitar building. I'm pleased to hear you say that.
And you are exactly right about the Black Knot diagnosis. I looked it up and it's caused by a fungus. Apiosporina Morbosa. Between the Spalted maple and the cherry gall, I owe a lot to the world of fungi for this guitar's design!
