beginner ukulele?
Apologies in advance. This is a question I usually dodge. It's just going to be much easier for me (You all have families, right?) if I come up with an answer.
I've taught children's guitar on and off over the years, and I usually try to get people to get their kids the best instrument they can afford. I usually help shop. It just makes the whole journey so much more likely to be successful… Isn't that the goal? Some combination of joy and success? blah, blah, blah. Anyway... Best ukulele under $100 that this guy might find at a place like Guitar Center? He is at least capable of playing some basic guitar chords, so I think I can coach him into testing that the thing has reasonable playability. And that the tuners work. (Friction tuners seem like a really bad idea for beginners.) I don't think this is hopeless. I jJust wish I was there to help him pull the right one off the wall. Thanks. |

Kala or Makala (Think Fender and Squier). They seem to be well thought of in the uke world. Head over to Ukulele Undeground and search through the beginner section. They have quite a few threads on beginner ukes.
