Are you unhappy with your amplified tone?

I haven't played it plugged in enough to be sure.
I did plug in last week and had my daughter video me with an Ipad and it sounded fine to me...
I know my Alvarez needs help...but the Taylor was fine, I'm just wondering if there is more to improve on?

Generally speaking, the ES2 system preamp in your Taylor is all you need. It is designed by Taylor to be "plug and play." You should be able to plug into just about any amplifier or PA system and get a good sound.

If you should ever go down the amplification rathole, yes, including a clean slate. For most casual use, no, you are fine.

Best of luck! You’ve certainly got good gear there to get you through it. The rest is practice.

And no whiskey for breakfast.

At least not that day.

Just an additional thought ... certainly not a requirement, I have played OK with the ES2 straight into the PA ... but I have used a 2-channel pre-amp sometimes (when already using it for another instrument) to utilise a more comprehensive EQ including a notch filter to help control feedback resonances.
