Default Harmony Sovereign H1203 X-brace conversion

Due to downsizing efforts I'm offering my Harmony H1203 for sale.

SOLD

1960's Western Special OM sized model.
Solid Spruce Top
Solid Mahogany back (one piece) and sides
1 3/4" width at the nut
25 1/4" scale length
Full C neck shape

This is a great sounding vintage all solid woods OM. I've owned 3 or 4 of these over the years but this X-brace conversion is by a very long shot the best sounding. The original ladder braced models have a cool bluesy vibe but once X braced this guitar is deep, full and resonant. Very enjoyable to play.

Lots of mojo on this one. Finish checking, nicks and dings etc. The head plate and TRC are both excellent.
Guitar is 100% stable and structurally sound. During X bracing the guitar was fully stabilized and a couple small cracks repaired.

Here is a synopsis of the X brace conversion done by moonlight luthiers:
1) Remove neck, back, bridge, bridge plate and ladder bracing
2) Install new 100 degree forward shifted quarter sawn Sitka spruce tapered X bracing
3) Install new quarter sawn rock maple bridge plate
4) Repair cracks
5) Add mahogany braces to the sides (for stability).
6) Remove all OEM glue residue and sand liner blocks smooth
7) Plane (round) all back braces and sand smooth and repair/re-attach as needed.
8) Repair any broken or missing liner blocks
9) Replace back
10) Replace back binding
11) Install new quarter sawn Brazilian rosewood (dalbergia nigra) bridge
12) Install Grover Sta-Tite tuners
13) Reset and install neck. This includes a Martin style (like the D-1) threaded insert in the neck heel and a bolt through the neck block. The insert and bolt are added insurance intended for long term reliability.
14) Replace ivoroid fretboard binding with rosewood. Plane and radius the fretboard, lubricate and test the truss rod.
15) Complete Re-fret
16) Install vintage (non-bleached) bone nut and saddle.

This process does more than just improve the sound. Correct neck angle, new tuners, fingerboard planing, re-fret and full setup also make this the best playing vintage Harmony I've experienced.

The Original chipboard case fell apart so the guitar will ship in padded gig bag.

Here is a quick fingerpicked sound sample I did a while back

Incredible deal here. You will not find another guitar in this price range that will come remotely close to this in terms of either tonewood quality or tone.

If I didn't already have a full house, I'd buy this immediately. (no financial interest on my part)

GLWYS!

I'm very interested, for sentimental reasons if nothing else.
I need to check in with another family member tomorrow before saying 'I'll buy it", but I'm pretty sure we will. Please communicate with me off line at [email protected]. The price and terms are fine with me.

Downtime was great to deal with. Look forward to receiving the guitar.

Just for human interest's sake (or at least forum members' sakes this is an example of nostalgia driving GAS. This Harmony is the same model my Dad owned and I first learned to play guitar on back in the sixties. His instrument was lost in the Santa Rosa fires last month, so this guitar will be a 96th birthday present to him next week from his kids! And we'll all play it every visit, you can bet.
