No.500. A new guitar, an anniversary and a thank you
 I thought I’d use the auspicious occasion of my five hundredth post to do three things. Firstly, I wanted to share my new guitar with my AGF friends. It is a Larrivee SD50 TSB. A slope shouldered, Sitka on mahogany dreadnought. The ‘TSB’ or Tobacco Sunburst, hand painted in Ventura County, Southern California by the great Canadian master, Jean Larrivee.  The SD50 has been whispering to me for a few years. Our first encounter was a chance meeting at the famous Twelfth Fret guitar shop in Toronto. I wasn’t in the ‘dread space’ then, and in that time eventually ended up purchasing one of the first Taylor GS’s to grace our fair city. Still, the wonderfully rich and resonant tone emanating from that new-to-me Larrivee stuck like pollen to a wandering bee’s leg. There, worthy of attention, but other flowers needed attention. A whisper no more. My new SD50 is home and its beautiful voice has a place to sing! For those of you who have yet to hear or play this relatively rare instrument speak, I’d heartily recommend a visit.  Secondly, it’s my birthday, so the obvious positive karma of a 500 post and a birthday was indisputable!  Finally, I thought it would be an appropriate time to thank the wonderful community that is the Acoustic Guitar Forum. It has been an absolute pleasure to trade ideas, opinions and yes, guitars, with you over the years. Thanks folks! Phil

From one 50 owner to another, congratulations. The 50 series is quite possibly the pre-eminent line from Larrivee, yet seldom talked about.
