Reposted from "Record" section. This is my first attempt at recording a solo electric finger style composition. It is my rendition of my daughter's school alma mater, to be part of a video that will be shown during the graduation ceremony in June. I used an Empress compressor pedal, as well as Strymon Ola chorus and Strymon Big Sky reverb pedals. It is effects-heavy, but I really enjoyed making this recording. I thought your piece sounded really good! And I loved the combination of the effects. I mean, if you can't use these effects on an electric guitar, where can you use them??!!

That was good! I thought the chorus effect was a bit overwhelming, though.

Thanks to all for listening and for the comments. Wow, perttime, that song sounded very close to the Palmer alma mater melody! I knew the woman that wrote the alma mater many decades ago. Perhaps she had heard the song you shared way back then and was influenced.

Quite possible, Finlandia is a relatively well known piece, at least in Europe.

Also, Wikipedia says that "In the spring of 1963, the Rice University student body voted to establish a school song (Rice is Our Home), using the music from the Finlandia Hymn."
