Default Played my first Rainsong guitar today

I was killing time at my local GC today and on my way out of the door I saw a single cutaway Rainsong on a stand.Intrigued I picked it up and was amazed how light it was!It only sounded so so but it was quite elegant. The neck was entirely of carbon fiber and was perfectly formed. The carbon fiber matrix was even and straight and the action and intonation was spot on.It occurred to me that this guitar would be perfect for camping or boating and even a light rain would not faze it.A little too pricey for me at 1800 bucks but I was very impressed by it.

Yes. $1800 is a bit high for a plastic guitar.

The precision of their manufacturing process is amazing to me. I actually exchanged saddles between two different Model Rainsongs I have made a year apart. The saddles were interchangeable, string height was still dead on. Try that with other makes!!

I'm excited to see more and more rainsongs in stock at guitar center. I think that as more people play them, they will have wider adoption.

I love my Rainsong. Luckily I have a local dealer who sells all of the carbon fiber makers, so I was able to try just about everything. Most people don't have that luxury though.

And, as you said, nobody beats Rainsong for fit and finish. And the best part of all, once they're set up just how you choose, they'll never change again.

"Plastic Guitar" is like calling a Corvette a "Plastic Car" I played one and I liked it. Sound was as good to my ears as the 500 series Taylor sitting next to it. They are impervious to elements and if I had $1800 I would have one.

I played a Rainsong and wasn't so impressed by it. I did buy a pre-Peavy Composite Acoustics GXi in gloss that I really like. Haven't tried the CA's under Peavy's reign yet however?

Look in the used market, like said they never change, I bought three all in the used market and they were just like new. Bought all sight unseen and they all came with necks and set up dead on. Try that in the used wood market. Parlor came last week, very cool.

I was going to suggest the same thing for the same reason. I got mine used from an AGF member and it was like new. I live in one of the most humid climates on Earh, and it is totally unphased.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. They haven't done anything drastically different than before Peavey, but they've made incremental improvements to, what, I believe, were already very good designs.

For what it's worth, our Rainsongs are the ones that get played the most, out in public. They're impervious to climate and you don't have to worry about them getting banged up in a crowd. They're loud, light, and very easy to play. I won't buy a wood guitar without playing it first. Not a worry with the Rainsongs. Also, they are light so you can play them longer without getting tired. My wife played in a do-wop band with her HD-35, which plays like a dream. After she got her WS-1000, she played a gig, outside.. for 4 hours in the summer, and was not tired. She fell in love with it, so I then bought my JM-1000. They're worth the investment.

Haha. I read your comment wrong. You're saying there's less debris in our CF water. Ignore my original comment.

But I totally agree with Steve. Having a separate forum for CF can be a double-edged sword. It is nice to have a tight community, but it can also mean that those unfamiliar with CF guitars won't get as much exposure as they possibly could. I personally don't really care if anyone accepts CF guitars as normal guitars, or if they dismiss them as "plastic", but having more people in the fold means more money to the manufacturers, and ultimately more innovation leading to even more amazing guitars.

Again, sorry I misread your comment at first. Maybe I was just subconsciously angry at you out of pure jealousy for your new X20-os.

A pm by the OP to one of the mods with a brief explanation might get the desired result. I'd try that.

And sending a PM to myself or another Moderator follows AGF policy as well...
