Default Happy NCFGD!

Happy new carbon fiber guitar day! I just scored a nice pre-Peavey Composite Acoustics GX Performer in the gloss burst finish with the LR Baggs IBeam/Imix electronics. Hoping it is as nice as I have read about. I played a Rainsong Shorty that really got me pumped for a CF guitar.

Frankencat,

Congrats on the NOS GX Performer. I think these pre-Peavey instruments should have the mystical status of pre-war Martins. Sure looks like a fine instrument.

Beautiful. I'm sure you'll be blown away by the tone from that thing.

That's exactly what I have, and I love it. It did take a while to settle on the right strings though - I use John Pearse 80/20s. YMMV.

I have a newer (Peavey) version of this same guitar and am extremely happy with it. You're gonna like it. Nice score....

You can tell from that picture that the string string set up looks pretty good. Nice find!

Are you kidding?? Are you really telling us you can tell what the setup is like from this pic?

That is a gorgeous guitar! I love the binding on it, something you just don't see. Enjoy your new gem!

It's not binding Lisa, it's exposed carbon fiber. Basically clear paint next to black paint that gives the appearance of binding.

Bought enough used guitars that you really can tell from pictures what the set up will be like. Of course, that would be a general statement. But from this picture the strings look like a normal height at the upper register and key, there is plenty of height left at the saddle, good break angle. Room to come down if necessary. Exactly what you want to see. Sure you can be wrong, but with carbons I have always been right.

I absolutely LOVE that guitar! Good buy! Congratulations. Call me when you're ready to sell or trade it, ha. I'll buy one as soon as I finish paying off the last guitar I bought!

Haha! Well I haven't even laid hands on it yet. Seems it got delayed somewhere up in the frozen tundra of the north central US. Should be here next week and I will definitely post back when I have had a chance to check it out in the flesh. But yeah, I definitely fell for the pics.
