Default Baranik Retreux Family

How does a list of Baranik Retreux Parlor guitars sound?

We know that El Conquistador is the proud owner of #001, but what's her name?

Mine is #009, "Aloha Koa".

From culling pictures on the internet, I've compiled the following list, whose accuracy remains uncertain:

BARANIK RETREUX PARLORS

#001/2009 Blue Hawaii
#004/2009 Copper Tone
#005/2009 Black and Gold
#008?/2010 Paint It Black
#009/2010 Aloha Koa
#012/2010 Bee’s Knees
#013/2010 Kula Kika
#016/201? Black and Tan
#017/2011 Rusty Red?

Please help me fill in the blanks!!

I can't fill in any blanks, but I can say that 'Black and Tan' is one of the most astonishing guitars I've ever had the pleasure of playing. It sounds huge - not huge 'for a parlour', just HUGE!

I've played Bee's Knees. I thought it was lively and responsive and a much bigger sound than I was expecting. It thought that it had a surprisingly strong bass and sweet trebles.

I've also played Black and Tan and I'd agree with Huck's description.

Mine is named Blue Hawaii. The Blue is for the Colorado Blue spruce top and blue rossett and accents, and the Hawaii is for the Koa.

There will most likely be several Retreuxs at the Baranik gathering in August. Now that you are in the club, you are invited.

Although I don't have one of the Retreux Parlours, I've seen quite a few of them, and played Steve's (before it was Steve's!) at HGF along with the other that Mike brought and displayed. And I know two were ordered at that show, but I don't know if those are in your list.

If any Baranik owners are going to be in California for HGF and the week following, send me a PM on some get together time we're trying to plan.

Cheers all,

Phil

Unfortunately, I won't be out in California this summer

I'm bummed to miss out on the HGF and the Baranik get-together. I just hope that you all don't have so much fun that you forget to take pictures.

Here's some photos on my personal retreaux parlour, Paint it Black. Bee's Knees and Kula Kika are available at TAMCO.

Trevor, your guitar has soooo much charm! One of a kind, for sure!

How do people react when they see you playing it for the first time? It's low-key, yet elegant, rootsy looks with modern sound, folks must be taken aback when they hear it sing!!

What are the back and sides made of? Is the neck Spanish Cedar or something else? Those finer points are missing in your description on TAMCO's website.

Tonight, I'm all alone with my little Baranik.
