Easier to play? If you are referring to controlling the sound of the guitar and the amp, depending on what you are playing, and you have defined what you play above, some are definitely easier to play than others. Set a Marshall 50 watt combo to 8 and plug in a Les Paul, a Gretsch 6120, a Tele, and a Strat. You will have no problem coming back with an ordered list based on your preferences of which is "easier to play" in terms of tone and getting what you want out of the amp when you want it

You might not be able to hear the differences any more, but hey...

My ears actually test out very well! I got on the earplug bandwagon very early. Heck, I wear "hearos" attenuators when I practice with my resonators, and my in home amp is a Fender champ.

Whoa! .... hold on! ... I was talking about my choice of Stratocaster V Telecaster (only) from a strictly playability viewpoint. (Not sure what Marshall amps, the subject of tone or Gretsch/Les Paul guitars have to do with my initial statement).

My 79 B.C. Rich Mockingbird. Duncan Custom Custom in the bridge and a Duncan JB Player in the neck. Feels great, sounds great and plays great!

My "go to" changes every so often, but right now it is a Carvin CS624 with a Piezo. Great feel and sound, hands in with some powerful LP guitars and the Piezo adds a very sweet touch.

That being said, I have a Nashville Tele on order that will also come with a Piezo, so it'll be a tough choice!!

I love my Tele. But I can do anything on the Strat I can do on the Tele and better. Tele has tones that the Strat won't do that well and has a nice bend feeling. Love them both. Lately its just Strat.

For country, I have to say the Strat seems to be just as nice as the Tele. Pickup in the 2nd position, you got twang.

But I love them both.

Never bonded with the Les Paul, like Clapton, just seemed to easy. And I could not find a wide tone palette.

My '74 Gibson ES-345... mod'ed nearly beyond belief at this point in time...

Seymour Duncan pickups; PAT '58 in the fingerboard with a Jeff Beck on the bridge... coil taps, as well as a "by-pass" switch that routes the signal from the pickups straight to the amp, by passing tone and volume pots... I use it like a preset sometimes...

Strung with 11's and fat fretwire, plays effortlessly and solid... I like feeling some 'meat" on the strings.
