Do we have any P-90 fans here? Do you own any guitars with them? Show and tell.

Oh yeah - this is a 1967 Gibson SG Jr that had been totally trashed and literally left in a barn for years. Half the parts were missing, the other half were incorrect, and the finish was non-existent.

Unfortunately, the original pickup was also shot. As a part of bringing it back to life I installed a Lollar over-wound P-90.... Pure musical heaven!

Has anyone tried the Fender Blacktop Jaguar with P90s? I played one for an hour the other day and was really impressed. With a stop tail, P90s, red finish and black pick guard it was clearly an emulation of the SG, but it worked. Of course it was still 24" and bolt-on, but it had a much bolder, raunchier tone that is definitely in the Gibson camp.

Sweet! Is this one that you found at a yard sale/store or was it in a family barn?

Hi Dru -

It was found in a local barn and offered to a friend for $50 about 10 years ago. He then gave it to his son, who decided it was too far gone to do anything with it.

It came to me about a year ago. I sourced around and found the best "period correct" parts I could and gave it a go. I think it turned out pretty good.

Thanks!
Will

Any before pics?

I don't have any P90 guitars, yet but I hope to get one at some point.

I have a Reverend Rick Vito Signature, with a Rev P90 neck pickup and a Railhammer Gnarly 90 (humbucker sized) in the bridge and it is a great guitar! The bridge is smooth, jazzy, and sweet sounding and the bridge can get a Tele-like bite to it that sounds really good both clean and with some overdrive. It has a blend pot instead of a pickup switch that allows you to customize the mix of the 2 pickups and when you add in the Bass Countour Control (bass rolloff pot) it has an unbelieveable amount of tonal variety on hand. I've been guying and trading a number of guitars the last couple of years, but have found a real keeper in this guitar! I'll try to get a picture of it up here, since the styling and color are pretty unique...

It would be really cool if you could upload some sound clips or video as well ... other than the Wildwood promos, sound clips of that model are hard to find.

No pics yet but I just got a McAlister Sienna electric with twin P-90's. It's a delight.

Heritage H137. Slab o' mahogany; Lollar P90's; Pigtail adjustable wraparound bridge; Grover tuners.
My first P90 instrument and let me tell you - the first time I gigged it, my thought was, "What took me so long?"
