Dru, I use it as both. It's the only constant between pedalboards for acoustic and electric. I use my volume pedal(acoustic) or Knob(electric) a lot but if a part of a song comes up I don't play on I use the tuner as a mute to keep noise down, when I kick it back on I'm ready for whatever is next.

May I inquire, that's the Clinch pedal which is supposed to be a copy of the preamp from the solid-state Echoplex, correct? I've seen it in use but never got to try one myself.

It is a pretty spot on clone of the preamp for an EP3 Echoplex. I THINK Jimmy Page was the one who discovered if you kept the EP3 on with all the delay turned off the preamp just did some magic for the overall tone. Eric Johnson uses this as well. There is a great demo video on YouTube by Pete Thorn that shows nicely what the pedal does.

My thanks, terrapin. I thought that was the pedal. I believe Neil Young and Van Halen in his early years used the tube Echoplex as a preamp as well. It's something how those 50's, 60's and 70's designers made tools which sweetened tone, even when the item was not being used as intended!

The Exotic Effects EP-Booster is a different approach to the same tone sweetener low-mids thing, but IMO doesn't do what the EP-pre does. The Exotic pedal does offer significant gain whereas the Clinch will only give you 3db max. The EP-pre kicked the Exotic off my board.

I suppose the MXR Dynacomp is my favorite, because I get to use it the most.

The one I always have on, basically a very very mild overdrive. Adds richness without an apparent effect. Also has some eq options to compensate for different live rooms.

vice versa, i've recently begun using a styrmon timeline(delay) and strymon mobius(modulator). if you tweak them just right you can get a great reverb or delay, and, tremolo sound that is much quieter than the antiques mentioned above, and, they do not sound digitally harsh. play music!
