Colter Wall's Pickup on his 00-17
Hi all, hopefully someone can help me.
I am trying my best to figure out how Colter Wall get's such a great plugged in tone (I know it's subjective but I think it's great...) but I'm failing miserably. He plays a 30's 00-17. Can anyone advise me on what pickup system he is using and/or anything else about his setup? I have a 30's 0-17 and I'm trying to figure how to get the best sound from it live! Here's a video. When he plays with a band he uses an anthem or a lyric... I'm more interested in these solo-type performances. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddrO3EkQrpY&t=962s Thank you |

That looks like some type of goosneck microphone that's taped to the soundhole and is inside the guitar a bit. It's such an intimate setting that he's probably using a combination of it and the external vocal microphone. Colter usually uses the Lr Baggs Anthem SL on stage. I don't think his setup here would work all that well on stage. An option would be the K&K dual source with the pure mini and goosneck mic. It would sound very similar.

That could be one of the Meyers pickups which have a little box pre-amp and a gooseneck mike of various lengths depending on the model and the style of attachment. I have one for a vintage National tricone and it works pretty well, but feedback is an issue, as it is with all mics and mic dependent pickups.
