Default Colonoscopies, Cataracts, and Cancer...oh my!

This place is getting gruesome! I remember when my grandparents used to talk about this stuff, leading to a quick exit from the dinner table for one and all...

Haha, I appreciate the warnings. Gettin' old isn't for the faint of heart!

Really!
I was just reading the topics off to a friend and asked him "can you guess the AGF demographic?"
BTW - we are it!

Yep. When my fellow retirees and I get together for lunch, we call it "an Organ Recital".

That's really funny!!!
Yep, it gets easier to share over time.....and a good way to gain info and perspective on health issues when among friends/relations who care and also share. I too never thought I'd be that easy with this stuff!

Something kind of sweet and inspirational in this is my mother's posse in her senior's apartment complex. A group in late 80s to 101 have their kids getting old but they are living life pedal to the floor.

There's humor in it and that wonderful group also has some dead serious concerns. They are horrified by how many now gen x and boomers are not taking are of themselves well and all the parochial and conspiracy prone behavior they see. They'd give a lot of complainers a spanking if they could.

I'm very motivated by them. Two men in the group were once soldiers on opposite sides. There's a holocaust surviver in the group. The all of us really do need to live as they do. It is pretty hard for me to let poor attitude win when I see and think about them.

There's a really big lesson in how they carry on with challenges from age with so much grace and with smiles.

It is tough, getting old. But I don't have access to a time machine... And think of the problems that would cause, anyway.

We've got to watch ourselves: I'm on another forum where the "old people problems" and obituaries increased to the point where a youngster like me couldn't get on there without getting depressed. And I'm 66 years old!
