Default Which acoustic amp?

So I'm looking for a cheap acoustic amp, probably less than $200. It doesn't have to be loud. It'll be mostly for adding effects at home or using it as a direct out playing at church. A couple options I've looked at are the Acoustic A20 and the Yamaha THR5A.

I'm not sure if the Yamaha THR5A has a direct output? can anyone confirm?
Which is better quality? Better sounding?
Which has better Effects?
I'm mostly interested in light reveb, delay, and chorus.

Any other amps in this price range I should look at or better ones I can find used in this range?

Thanks!

You should be able to find a used Fishman Loudbox Mini for $200

I've used the DID out on my A20 and it allows you to use the DI pre/post preamp. If you have a store nearby that carries acoustic amplifiers, you might want to try some out before buying. Ric.

The THr5A does NOT have any outputs. Its a great little practice amp to take camping, busking for guitar only, etc. Love some of the effects for acoustic guitar but its not an amp for any size performance. Very cool looking though.

The Fishman Loudbox Mini is my recommendation too. The Acoustic A20 is a reasonably good amp but the effects are not better than acceptable.

People here propose Ultrasound amps when the price point gets low but I've never used them so can't say. Ibanez Troubadour amps look to use the same drivers as the Ultrasound so may be the same design.

I just replaced my THR5A with Fender Passport Mini and find its much better. If you can find a used Fishman Loudbox Mini in your price range, that would be better still.

I just bought the Fishman Loudbox Mini from Zzsounds. So far very happy with it and only 6 monthly payments of $55 and no interest.

I use a Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 15W 1x8" with Bill Lawrence pickups and I also use a shure M57 with the pickups. Its light and I like the sound - link to it is below.

Thanks everyone. I think I've narrowed it down to the Fishman Loudbox mini or the Bugera AC 60. Although I've seen this Roland AC 33 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgJjlkB-YJk that look really sweat especially with built in overdub.

But its a little bit more expensive and would have to find used and probably still save a while..

If you do buy the Bugera, could you please post a review of it? I'm most interested in how it compares to the Loudbox Mini but I'd really like to avoid buying it to find out. I'm practically buried in acoustic amps as it is.

Another vote for the Loudbox Mini. Really, nothing comes close at anywhere near that price. I pulled mine out of a pawn shop for $120.

I had a Behringer ACX1000 Acoustic amp until I blew it up playing Bass through it a couple of weeks back. Until then it worked fine with a balanced line output for FOH. Given that they are low priced amps, they could be worth investigating (I think the new models are the ACX1800).

I know this thread is a little old but I thought I'd post what I ended up doing. I went with none of the options and got a Roland AC-33. I convinced mom and dad to chip in a little bit for a Christmas present and I dug a little bit deeper in the pockets. I thought I had decided on the Loudbox mini which was already a little out of my budget and then found this. Sound seems to be just as good from what I can tell. Plus it has battery power and the looper function.

I haven't got it yet to play in person but if anyone's interested I can post a review of it on here when it comes in.
