Helping a Gibson Blue Ridge
Hello all,
I've had my grandfather's Gibson Blue Ridge now for about 10 years. I can never get rid of it obviously but the sound is and has been as dead as a hammer for as long as I can remember. We all know that these were not Gibson's best effort. Mine is a 1972 model. What can I do to help it out? I've considered replacing the bridge plate and scalloping the braces. Are these good ideas? Any other suggestions in regards to the structure of the guitar (I've already switched out the nut, saddle, and bridge pins.)

Unfortunately, its something a person needs to look at themselves to be able to give advice for how to loosen the top up, or alter the performance of the top.
Advice via a forum for something like that will definitely lead your guitar to the nearest bin. Find a local luthier and see what they recommend and go from there Steve
