Default Anthem Pickup and Takamine

Hi All (My first post)

I have been considering purchasing an Anthem acoustic guitar pickup but am not sure if it will be ok with my guitar.
My guitar is a Takamine AN16 (Dreadnought) and it has a double saddle setup. One saddle for the lower 4 strings and another for the top 2. Looking at how the pickup is attached it seems to fit under the bridge with a hole drilled near the saddle. In all the fitting instructions I have seen they have always used a guitar with a single saddle for all 6 strings.

Any advice would be much appreciated on this matter.

Thanks In Advance

I have not seen an Anthem with a split-saddle Element (UST) portion of the pickup... I will say that a phone call to Baggs will answer your question, definitively and quickly. Every time I have had any questions regarding my Anthem SL pickups, they have been more than happy to give me whatever information I wanted...

I have heard more than a few Takamine owners trying to find a "work-around" to that split saddle arrangement, but in the long run, you may be better off either using the system that Takamine uses (KoolTube?) or else buy a different guitar for the Anthem.

Sorry I can't be of more help to you, and welcome to the Acoustic Guitar Forum!

The stock Anthem will not work for your guitar, but Baggs does make a split saddle version that will work great. The split saddle version needs to be custom ordered from them.

They are great to deal with - call them directly or shoot them an email and I'm sure they will help you out. Or if you'd rather go through a dealer I'm pretty sure any Baggs dealer can order the split saddle version for you.

Why not pass on the Anthem and go with soundboard transducer - K&K. Or Lyric.

The LR Baggs Anthem is a great pickup/preamp system, and they do offer a split saddle version. Any Baggs dealer can order one for you. The cost is only $50 or so more than the regular Anthem.

If you contact Baggs directly, they'll refer you to one of their dealers who can order it for you. One of my regular customers contacted Baggs directly last March about a split saddle Anthem for his Lowden, and they referred him back to my store, as they don't deal direct-to-consumer.

We placed the order, and they shipped it out the next day.

If you need assistance, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for all you're help folks. Some nice detailed answers there.
Looking forward to hearing more from you guys.

By the way, who would fit this? I take it that most dealers will also be able to fit it.
