Latest update from John: the back is coming together. I think the Pau Santo will look very nice.

Thanks! It's actually Pau Santo, not Pau Ferro. Different genus, though also from Brazil. Pau Santo is Zollernia paraensis, sometimes called Brazilian Blackheart. I have never personally seen a guitar made from it, but I am told that it makes a fantastic tonewood. Harder than most rosewoods.

Hi all, happy new year! I have gotten behind on posting John’s progress on my guitar, so I will be catching up. Hopefully John will also be sending more photos soon as the box becomes more guitar-ish. Here below are three photos of John working on the linings, in particular for the armrest bevel:

What John had to say about the above photos: “What you see here are the linings that will support the arm and rib bevels. I put them in while square to ease clamping, then shape them old school with knife and chisel. There will be final cleanup after the side braces go on.”

After lining the sides, John has been working on the rosette for the cedar top. Here is one work-in-progress shot. Rosewood burl, and (I believe) reconstituted malachite.

And here is the completed rosette, with the wood and stone inlaid:

John's really getting good at this bevel stuff. King of the bevels!
And your rosette is a beauty! Really like the colors and geometrics.
