Default Alvarez-Yairi DY-74CEQ SOLD

OK. I feel generous, I guess. This is a giveaway price. I doubt there is a better dreadnought anywhere for this $.
$1500 when new (nearly $3000 in 2017 $), this is in very good condition.
This a very nice DY-74CEQ (spruce over rosewood with the optional System 500 electronics). In this config it is the same as the Jerry Garcia GY1 model only without plastic fingerboard and head stock binding and a bit of bling.
Lots of posts here about Yairis, and they are on a par with big name instruments selling for much more. Very low action, superb sustain, lots of volume and dynamic headroom. Built to last many decades. I fell in love with this and then bought a DY-90, which sounds very similar and plays the same, just to get the abalone bling. So this great instrument goes away.

Default Bump

Maybe I haven't mentioned the sound of this guitar.
It is easily the loudest guitar I've owned, naturally on the bright side too (although D'addario Nickel/bronze light strings balance that out very nicely), and very open, clean and dynamic. Solid, deep bass on the e string, but dry sounding, not fat. I can see why Jerry Garcia would have liked it- it really cuts through the mix with a nice, full sound.
It is the rich harmonic envelope and sustain that are startling for a used guitar at this price. It rings out like a bell, like my much more $ Taylor 416CE LTD, but louder. It's one of those things that clearly separates the "good for the price" instruments from the very good, period.
You get a bargain price on a classic fine instrument.
