Testing pickups
Is there a way, without disassembling, to individually check or test each pick up to make sure they are actually picking up? Fender strat.
Thanks Jed |

Jed:
With the guitar plugged into the amp, and the amp at a low volume, gently tap the pickup poles with a paperclip or other steel item. Each pickup when selected should "thump" when the pole pieces are gently touched. Hope this helps. |

That's what I do. I use the tip of a screwdriver on each pickup (gently) and then use the toggle switch and repeat.

A tuning fork works well. Hit it on your knee then hold the vibrating fork pieces around a half inch from the pickup.
