Thumbs up Welcome to the Custom Shop!

Hello everyone! Over the years, the AGF has implemented new forums sparingly in order to maintain the simplicity of our format. However, as our forum grows, it's very easy for many good threads in the General Acoustic section to find their way on to page 2 and 3 in a single day, and then very quickly forgotten and lost. I've decided to open this new section of the AGF to house the build threads and basically, try to separate a lot of the custom build discussions from the General section... in order to increase visibility and participation.

I've copied over several threads from the General section to get us started, so there will be some overlap in the beginning. But let's give it a try and see how it goes. Please let me know what you think of this new section and thanks for your support!

Best regards,
J.R. Rogers

Excellent idea, and good to see my build thread already transferred here.

Great idea. Is this forum for build threads only, or all discussion of custom builders?

And most importantly, haha, we'll finally have to answer the oft-asked question, and draw the line between production, small shop, and custom builders!

I think a BTO Taylor or Custom Martin discussion would actually fit in this section quite nicely. I personally enjoy seeing custom models from production builders. ...and they wouldn't be carried off to the next page so quickly, replaced with discussions of Elixirs and Crate amps, etc. We can do some tweaking on the name, format, and the description over time, to make sure this section best suits our community.

Sorry J.R., sorry guys, I disagree. I now need to go to two subforums to check, and I cannot see how this is an improvement. It just takes me twice as long.

Just my 2 cents, but maybe others feel the same way.

Is it a custom or General if it started as a factory build then rebuilt?
All Since Yamaha's are ALL hand made, even the cheap ones so do they go in Custom Shop postings or General postings?
If a factory Martin ends up with some custom inlay......................
I am soooooooo confused. I'm an Old man ugh, don't like change ugh.

Took me awhile to notice the "custom shop". To be truthful, I sort of miss the diversity the custom build threads brought to the GD area. I get that some of the churning of build threads can be annoying to the rest of the membership that are not into that. And I also agree that it's convenient to be able to jump into a subforum that deals strictly with build and (I'd hope) reviews of custom guitars - and (again, I'd hope) interesting small and large mfg instruments.
