Default Subwoofer for the Roland AC-90

Hi everyone!

I recently purchased a Roland AC-90 which I am extremely pleased with. This amp has an option of hooking up to a subwoofer to give it the extra low end. I checked out the Roland version of it and it's a little too much $ for me. I read somewhere that some have hooked it up to a small inexpensive bass amp (like the Roland Cube-30 Bass) to do the same thing. Just wondering if anyone has done it?

Tayloralf,
That was probably my suggestion. I had an AC90 and used the sub out to a Roland Cube 100 Bass Amp and it sounded really good. It was hard to go back to the AC90 without it. You can try any small bass like the Line6 or one of my favorites, the Genz Benz new compak bass amps.
HAve fun, the AC90 is a great little system that gives very good dispersion. I miss mine!

Just wondering? I have a Roland Ac 60 and a Roland Bass cube amp. Can you do the same thing with the AC 60? Mike

Per the Roland techs, Absolutely.
You will be amazed with the sound you will get.
Great in small venues.

Does it matter which Roland Bass Cube Amp? I assume they come in different wattage like guitar amps?

dcopper, I will be interested in how you connect the 2 amps too! Also, does it have to be a Roland bass amp? How about other "small" bass amps out there like the Fender Rumble 25, etc??

to connect, use the sub out on the AC90/AC60 to the input on the bass amp. It can be any bass amp of any wattage, but you will see that the Roland Cube 100 sounds much better as a sub than the Roland Cube 30 Bass. When you use the sub out, it sends only the lower frequencies to the bass amp. Unlike using a standard subwoofer, you can eq the frequencies on the recipient bass amp. As another option, Roland does sell a powered subwoofer that you can find on their website. I liked the bass amp option simply for portability and flexibility.

I'm thinking of picking up a Gallien-Krueger Backline 110 Combo

http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend....mbo?sku=482538

my local shop has one used for $120.

I'm planning on going over in the morning with my AC90 and taking it for a test drive. I hope that I will be pleased.

Hi Guys ,
I have the AC-60 and I put a Sony Sub with it ( I'd have to look at the model # ) but it is about the same size as the AC-60 and I set the Roland on top of the sub and angle it up and it makes a great little package ,takes up only the same amount of floor space as the Roland alone and really ads some depth to the sound . Have a good day !

I played with the Backline 110 at the store today. I brought my AC-90 and guitar. I really like it. It really rounds out the bottom end nicely. I brought it home and pluged a few other things into the system to try it out. What a difference. It really turned the Roland into a nice small PA setup.
