Default Cocobolo/Sitka Grand Symphony

Do you think they will do that? Maybe a ltd? What sort of sound/tone would you get?

Wouldn't be surprised to see GS/T5 LTDs in the near future (I doubt will be this year though)...I'm looking forward to a 12 string GS

I've got my fingers crossed for a limited cocobolo GS. Wouldn't mind seeing it paired with a variety of top-woods, either (sitka, cedar, engelmann).

I'm thinking fall limiteds, and how about a 12 string GS!

With this combination available in the R.Taylor line - I don't think we're going to see it anytime soon in the GS lineup. But let's hope I'm wrong.

It's an interesting thing. One of the best features of the GS is the relatively stable (and low) pricing from model to model and wood to wood. This is done in large part by limiting options. I rather doubt they'll have LTD GS's this year based on the fact that they're having a hard time filling orders as it is... but you never know.

I'd just as soon they evolve the GS slowly over time, making refinements rather than creating one more limited. Not that my opinion counts... but I guess it is what it is.

I would love to see a Cocobolo / Adi combo.... I think I'd have to put my name on the list for one of those!

I just received a Style 1 (GS) Cocobolo with Adirondack top R Taylor. It is everthing you could imagine and then maybe a little more.

Taylor has to wait until people fulfill their GASsy desires with the standard models... then they'll drop the Coco on them, which will lead to a flurry of selling "Yesterday's paper" and "upgrading"... ultimately resulting in increased sales for Taylor.

I'll get you some pictures in the next day or two, but it is the same R Taylor that was on the Figtree Music web site, which were being circulated in another thread . It is serial no. 47. As you would expect the workmanship is impeccable. As someone pointed out in the R Taylor thread the headstock joint is so tight that you can barely see it, even up close. The rosewood binding and the abolone rosette are absolutely beautiful.

It is hard to describe the sound that comes out of this guitar. Each string rings for an unbelievable time when plucked - just monster sustain. I have a cocobolo/sitka 810, which until the R Taylor came along, was my favorite guitar. The R Taylor is noticably louder and richer sounding than the 810 (however, I still love my 810).

I was going to buy a GS and then I heard Taylor was going to be producing "handmade" GSs and selling them under the R Taylor name. So I sold a bunch of stuff and took the leap because I love the Cocobolo/Adirondack combination and believed it would be a long time before I found a GS in that configuration, if ever.

Yes, it costs alot. Is it worth it? I can't answer that question. Point is, I couldn't have gotten a cocobolo/adirondack GS any other way, and I doubt Taylor will even offer this combination on the GS as a limited any time soon, if at all. As one person so aptly put it: "expensive is in the wallet of the beholder." I can tell you though - this is one hell of a guitar, which will hold its value over the long run.

Dave.

Well congratulations on that purchase then! You'll have to be sure to give us periodic updates on it!
