Default Another Which Pickguard Thread...

Which pickguard on my seafoam green 40th Anniversary Squier Strat?

1) Mint

2) Black Pearl

I'm wiring up a pickguard with a couple of vintage 70s Fender grey plate pickups that I've had sitting around and would really like to finally try out... also want to keep the original intact.

Leaning towards the black pearl.

A) if you are going to play a lot of surfer music
B) if you are going to play a lot of blues.

Mint, or parchment. I prefer parchment. The mint in real life seems to look best with a rosewood or pau ferro fretboard, thus the suggestion for parchment.

I like the black pickguard. Makes the blue pop and goes well with the maple fretboard.

I like the stock gold guard but that' just me. I think a sonic blue version of this Squier is in my future.

I broke down and ordered another one when I saw Fender had the Sonic Blue marked down. I'll probably leave the gold on one of them, and swap one.

I'd go with parchment since you have a maple neck. Mint looks awesome with rosewood or pau ferro fretboards, but less so with maple.

I ordered a green one from Fender and its going to be here Thursday. I’m having second thoughts about the color. The color is closer to their US 57 Fender Strat reissues than their current standard models. It seemed pretty intense when I found one at the local Guitar Center.

After ordering I discovered it on Musicians Friend for $290.

The color really pops in person, very saturated. But probably not for everybody... I like it, but don't know if I really want to be seen with it.

This is a tough choice! But really concentrating on the upper bout, where the neck, pickguard, and body join together, I gotta go with the black. It really makes the fretboard pop.

I'm not an electric guitar player, but I voted mint green. The other one
came from a Formica countertop!

I own the Jazzmaster in that same color (also a 40th) and went with the dark tortoise for mine. But for your strat, I like the mint green.20230908_171354.jpg
