RIP Tom Wheeler, former editor of Guitar Player Magazine...
...and guitar historian. I benefited from his work over my guitar life, both in the mags he edited and the books he wrote. In later days he taught at the University of Oregon. More, HERE. He'll be missed. Tom Wheeler, dead at 70.

Without whom, it might be argued, the AGF (and similar such forums) might never have become a reality...
RIP Tom...

I've got some of his books. The Stratocaster Chronicles and 60 Years of Fender Amps are excellent books (they're the ones with the black hardcover).
RIP Tom. |

I was thinking the same thing as I was perusing TalkBass this morning.

Yes. I think Wheeler affected my generation of guitarists. GP was the only monthly guitar magazine, and I learnt a lot from it. I even learnt to appreciate genres other than my own, and for that, I’m glad.
I used to read GP cover to cover. And I drooled over the gear ads.
