Hopefully where you are now is greater than the beauty of all those Koa instruments you once owned. Let the playing and singing be with joy and no more pain. Thanks for being my friend!

Aww man, this makes me sad. I attended an AGF get together at Russ and wife's house in Downey CA many years ago, when I still have my Taylor 314ce and was very new to the acoustic guitar community. I was the only gal the song circle but Russ and the guys made me feel welcome.

Rest in peace Russ.

Sad to see this. I was lucky enough to have met him and exchanged a few messages with him over the years. I recall him even offering to help get me NAMM tickets once, without my even asking. He could not have been a nicer and more generous guy, and he had such love for guitars and the forum. RIP Russ

Several years ago I posted about my son and I building him a washtub bass as a school project. Russ kindly offered guidance and lots of encouragement. He even sent over one of his CDs. He was such a kind, helpful person.

So long, Russ, and thank you.

Default Video of Russ Playing from City of Hope

My daughter posted a video of Russ (Koaguitarman) playing his guitar and singing when he was in City of Hope on her Facebook page. My heart filled with joy and sadness at the same time listening to him play once more. Thought all of you might enjoy hearing him again too.

Twyla and Amber,

Tim, Adrianne and I will never forget the gathering we attended in your home. We met so many wonderful folks there. Along with the great bounty of artfully displayed dishes, the fun with all your four legged friends and the kindness of your family we were overwhelmed with the Marque above the fire place that welcomed us as your special guests.

Russ stayed in touched with us for several years and he was able to tell me about his stays in the hospital having you girls as his rock here on earth.

My heart breaks for this tremendous loss. The AGF is the treasured home where we all gather to hold hands of our fellow guitar lovers and their families. Russ will always be known as the one who welcomed us into his home and made us a part of his own personal family.

I dearly love you, Twyla. Thank you for making private contact to tell me about Russ.

I've been inactive on this forum for quite some time, but I remember Russ fondly. He was always so kind and helpful. Rest well, koaguitarman...

Just found out today via PM. Russ was such a nice, talented and generous guy. Can’t make it to the memorial, but thanks for posting the GoFundMe link (cancer is not only an awful disease but an expensive one to boot). Twyla, thank you for sharing him with us.
