Default New Neumann TLM 102

I ended up picking up Neumann TLM 102 yesterday. I didn't intend to buy it, but the price was so good I couldn't resist. I used it to record vocals and acoustic today -- I posted a link in the Show and Tell Forum. I'm happy with the overall sound of the mic!

Good choice! Very unhyped and natural sounding.

Congrats I love Neumann microphones, even out of the studio, my KMS 105 is the best stage mike I have every used.

Enjoy your TLM 102, very versatile compact large condensor, good stuff!!

I remembered reading a review about the mic on proaudio.com ... turns out it was yours!

When I was shopping for a stage mic, I looked at the KMS 105 a while back but figured it was WAY better than my vocals deserved! Nice mic though!

Jim,

Yes it is. The Audio Technica AE5400 is also a very nice live condenser mic comparable to the KMS105 and its pad and LF roll off eq come in very handy when you have to eat the mic.

Just been checking through the TLM 102 specs. It can handle some pretty high SPLs all the way up to 144db which is basically enough to record Armageddon.

Or even Neko Case once she gets warmed up. Maybe.

Hi Ty,
I know this thread is from yonks ago, but I just wanted to thank you.
I was doing some serious review-hunting before buying a Neumann TLM 102, and I came across your samples. As I play a Martin D28 and sing, it sounded just the thing for me.
I got it from Thomann today, and just spent six hours trying it out on both.
Before, I had a Rode NT1-A, which was great for the money and I got some lovely D28 through it, though the vocals always somehow didn't hit the spot.
Because of your acoustic samples, I bought the TLM 102, and it is the best buy I've made since the D28 itself. Astonishing. What a difference this will make to my home recordings. Thank you, sir, I am so grateful for you and all the musicians who go to the trouble of putting stuff online so others can benefit from sound advice. Cheers!

Hi Craig,

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to me. I really appreciate it.

Yes, the D28 is a magnificent beast and certainly deserving of the TLM 102. The TLM 107 is a good match for it.

Once you get your first Neumann, the world does change.
