Spitting mixing signals

Hi, I'm relatively new to electric guitar and affects but I'm trying to figure out what I need to accomplish what I have in mind. I basically want to split my signal into two, be able to do separate affects and things on one, and then mix them back together with some kind of mixer. In as simple and few pieces as possible. if you could point me towards some stuff that would be great! Thanks

Maybe just get a Y cable and run two paths from the guitar.

My Telecaster has an acoustic bridge and I can split the electric and acoustic signals and process them separately.

Ok, I didn't know if that would work or not. What about mixing them back together? I'm think I need some type of blender because I think I will want one path to be much lower volume.

I assume the mixer will have more than one input. Plug both in and set them how you want.

You might want to search online about Jerry Garcia's on board electronics loop. For a pretty burnt out dude he was smart about how this stuff works. I've installed a few over the years and they are pretty neat.
