Default 2013 Gibson 1942 J-45 Banner Reissue

2013 Gibson 1942 J-45 Banner Reissue

***Back for sale!***

Have an inkling for a J-45 Legend but don’t have the budget? This may be the guitar for you! This instrument is a reissue based on the author of Kalamazoo Girls by John Thomas. John apparently worked with the Gibson custom folks to build a reissue of his J-45. It’s a great guitar, with the classic Gibson sound. Specifics include a rosewood fretboard and bridge, Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides. It has a 1 ¾ neck that is pretty big and chunky, however I find it very comfortable.

The guitar is in very good condition, and the fit and finish of the instrument is excellent. If you look carefully I’m sure you’ll see some scratches, but honestly, you have to look carefully; I can’t find any. I’d rate it a 9.5 since no used guitar is ever a 10 once it leaves the factory IMHO. I had a J-45 TV a while back but I wasn’t wild about the tone and really disliked the large bridge. I like the 1942 style bridge and really like the tone of this instrument! The previous owner replaced the white tuning machine buttons with Stew Mac vintage buttons, which gives it a much more vintage look. Only selling because I purchased a friend’s Collings. I’m not really interested in trading at this time.

Price: $2,400 PayPal family which covers shipping to anywhere CONUS

These don’t come up often, and those who are fortunate to have them rave about the tone and overall coolness of the vintage feel. I've also unleashed my tonerite on the instrument, for about 48 hours. Here are some reviews, blog commentaries and videos of the instrument.

Folks this is a stellar instrument. If you are looking for a vintage looking, and sounding J 45, this is it.

I'd really like to do an A-B with one of those, and my 54 J45, just to see what differences there are...both in tone, and build.

I used to own this particular J45 as well as a few other Montana custom shop Gibsons, and have owned a few vintage ones like your 54. I can say for sure that the build quality on this 2013 is hands and shoulders above the vintage builds in fit and finish.
Now as far as sound goes, as we know that is a very subjective thing but no contest in the build quality.

Frank.
