LOVE 'EM. Per that reworked BOSS, I remember getting counseled in an ensemble masterclass that perfect playing is never necessary, only perfect glares at your neighbor anytime you play something noticeable wrong. Works like a champ!

All of my acoustics are equipped with K&K Pure Mini pups. When I gig, I use one of the following acoustic amps depending on the venue:

* Fender Acoustasonic Jr DSP (this has the best vocal channel of any acoustic amp I've ever played)

* Fishman Loudbox Performer

* Fishman Loudbox Mini

Here's my pedal setup (l to r):

* BOSS GE-7 EQ

* BOSS RV-3 Digital Reverb/Delay

* BOSS CH-1 Super Chorus

* BOSS DM-2 Analog Delay

* BOSS TR-2 Tremolo

* BOSS TU-3 Tuner (powers the other pedals too)

I carry it all in a BOSS BCB-6 case which makes for instant setup and teardown. Here's a pic:

I use a Boss DD-20 delay set to a extremely subtle background delay. I also have a Boss RV-2 reverb, but I prefer to let the sound guy apply his reverb.

And for one solo, I kick on a Tech 21 Blonde amp simulator pedal for some gnarly acoustic guitar distortion. I use the same rig for electric guitar.

I don't tend to use any (even the reverb and chorus on my Fishman Loudbox), however when I want to fool around I pull out y pedalboard.

What I like are reverb, delay, compression, and tremolo. Sometimes phaser. Don't really care for chorus. Trem is awesome (occasionally).

Recommendations:

Hardwire reverb (based on Lexicon)
Carbon Copy Delay (analog style)
Baby boom compressor (unnoisy MXR clone)
Danelectro Cool Cat tremolo (dirt cheap and really doesn't get much better)

Default VLP Acoustic

I've just bought a TC Helicon VoiceLive Play Acoustic pedal and this does everything I want. My LR Baggs Lyric sounds amazing through it too. It's the kind of multi-effects pedal where most of the sounds are quite usable.

Model + Reverb + 5 band graphic equalizer

All in a very small pedal with boost and feedback filter. Plus look at all the buttons and dials!!

Man, I get so confused with all the overall tone altering gear out there... Pre Amp, DI Box, Equalizer, Compressor, and all their bretheren. I assume these are not used as effects in single songs, rather to change the overall tone of the guitar?

Can anyone here tell me the difference between these in regard to tone???

EDIT: I found an excellent explanation of what a compressor does. The effect is so subtle, it is hard to understand why it is so coveted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB1jB5bs-K4

I used to run a rack with eq and an Alesis midi verb.
I think the midi verb might be some old technology.
But it gave me the best effects for acoustic guitar to date.
I wanted to downsize a bit so I have a small pedal board.
Right now I have a hall of fame reverb in the loop.
It's ok. But it's not the midiverb. I like the
foot switch control. Before I had to reach over
And turn a knob in the rack. I think one can add a fs to the midiverb.
