Default NGD - Eastman AR605CE

I found this lovely archtop this past weekend at Merlefest in the Expo tent.

Forgive my lack of specs to share - here's what I remember:
carved spruce top; mahogany back and sides, Gotoh tuners, electronics controls under pickguard, 16" bout.

It's my first archtop; I'm very excited to bring it to some of the songs I play out with my duo.

cheers

Nice looking guitar! I had an AR610 (17" lower bout), no cutaway or electronics and it was a very nice sounding and playing archtop...but was a little big to hang on to, I think I would have like the 16" bout of the 605 better. Eastman makes some nice guitars but their archtops are the cream of the crop!

I drooled over some Eastman archtops a while back...I think I'm dripping again!

Sweet guitar! Lucky you for the new friend, and for being at MerleFest too.

So Amy, now that you've had it for a few days...what do you think? I may be interested in an Eastman archtop...problem is there are none nearby to play. Any thoughts on how yours might differ tone-wise from an AR805 (maple b/s instead of mahogany)?

By the way, what kind of music do you play?

MrBJones:
1. I still like it as much as when I said 'yes'.
2. never tried the AR805, nor any maple b/s model.
3. standards from the 30s and 40s are my faves to play; this Eastman makes them quiver in delight!
3a. I also like a variety of other tunes that fall into many other genres: country, bluegrass, pop, waltz, showtunes; my Huss & Dalton takes care of those tunes very nicely.

Wink

Had a set of flat wounds strings put on last night.

I want to quit my day job and play this guitar all day and night until I drop dead.

That's all.

I love this guitar. It doesn't like everything I play, but, the songs it does like - oh wow, it's like, dare I say, music to my ears!
