There is, because each shape comes with scales attached. Major in the first place, but also mixolydian and lydian (if needed).

And it's not just scales is it? Taking the three chord trick, and in the key of C, each of those shapes has it's equivalent of the F and G chords. Can you find them? Can you take a simple tune and play it in each of those shapes? Can you use this stuff to make music?

Exactly. It starts from the chord shape; then the major scale of that chord root; and then you can (and should!) find shapes for all the other chords in that key within the same pattern.
