Sorry to hear that Doug.

Day 27: nice repertoire practice followed by about an hour of the new song. Struggled to play parts A and B together. Then I worked on part C. It's going to take some time to smooth it out. I should have some time tonight to focus on it.

Wow this thread has died off...

Day 28: had about 20 minutes so I just focused on part C attempting to get it smoother. Not smooth yet but getting better. I think a couple of more days and it will be ready. Once that's done I'll start I'll start stitching the whole thing together. The sections of the medley go ABACA.

Day 6 of Doc Watson's Deep River Blues - coming along ok at a slower than performance speed tempo. I will need more time to memorize this, but I want to see if I can do that before I record. Reading from tab and recording is a pain. I'd rather just relax, play and record.

Day 29: pretty good repertoire practice followed by an hour and 20 minutes on the medley. Part C is getting there. I was able to run through it once without mistakes so that was nice.

I'm trying to stick with songs that are just 2 pages of tab. It seems to fit my attention span/boredom threshold just right

Day 30: has it really been 30 days of this medley?! Twas Hallowe'en night so I practiced just the medley between moments of doling out candy to the kids. I think I'm ready to start stitching the whole together tomorrow (maybe). Part C isn't totally solid but I don't feel like waiting anymore.

I will go slow with Martin Tallström's "Marie".
Played it before and will try to take it up again.

That's really a nice tune. I found the pdf tab and youtube video of it, I'm going to have a go at it, but just to break up my nutso blues practice sessions (I love that stuff). Another great guitar player found. Thanks MrP!

Still working on Deep River Blues, but its coming along good.

Yes Martin Tallström is a great player who writes nice arrangements with a natural "flow" that I like very much.

He is generous with free tabs and there is youtube videos for every song.
.....and he is from Sweden too :-)

Day 31: I spend a good while stitching together part A followed by part B and then part A again. That worked after some tries but I was feeling part C needed some more work before adding it to the mix. So I focused getting part C smoother and more consistent. I think it may be ready for prime time now.

Default Deep River Blues

Here's the first half, the second is done except for 2 bars that the initial chord grabbing is off about 50% of the time. I think it turned out pretty good.

This tune is now in my daily routine so I will get those stubborn chords down soon, but I wanted to officially start on my next tune "Mississippi Blues"

Day 32: the big stitch together last night. Got ABA down but once I got to part C things fell apart. The tempo was too fast for part C. So I either have to get part C going faster or just slow down in general. After 2 hours of that I gave up and moved upstairs and learned the end tag. Took a while since it wasn't tabbed out and the tempo of the video where he plays the end tag is really fast. But I got it.
