Default Woodbending question

What is better to bend on a bending iron, rosewood (east-indian) or walnut?
Latter is a tad more special as very much guitars are made of rosewood.

Thanks!

Viento, The walnut will be easier to bend than rosewoods. It is a little softer wood.

I just did a walnut bend. It was surprisingly easy. I used a home made heater, (piece of pipe, electric charcoal starter, and some ready rod for legs), which is pictured here. This little device worked great.

I don't know if (any or all) Walnut is easier than Indian Rosewood to bend having never bent it before. But of the number of timbers I have bent it would be hard for me to pick something I could call easier to bend than Indian Rosewood. Is the Walnut figured?

Jeff.

Thanks, Jeff, I haven´t ordered it yet, but I wanted to know before.
A figured back would be wonderful and won´t have any problems,
the sides are a bit different because of the bending.
But I´ve got some more time to think about it as I´m going on vacation before deciding.
3 more weeks to wait...

walnut is super easy to bend.

IMO, black walnut is exceptionally good sounding when handled right. you could see some staining during bending as moisture leaving the wood during the bend can bring some oils out with it. not a real big deal though -just something to keep in mind.
