I know this guitar well, I was the original owner. It's world class in every way - deep & complex tone, a dream to play, and really cool to look at. Randy's just about as fine a builder as there is out there and his stuff's in real demand. Best with the sale....Robert

Can you explain a V jointed headstock? Is it similar to a scarf joint?

I can't do it well, but Randy explains it ALL on his website. He uses a lot of construction practices from old-school Spanish builders.

The headstock on my Carruth was made with a V joint (Spanish joint). Hans Brentrup also used that joint on some of his guitars. The build thread for my Carruth had some nice photos of the construction, but due to Photobucket account changes those photos can no longer be viewed. It's a very high quality, labor intensive joint, with structural advantages over a scarf joint (although most all headstock joints are plenty adequate).

Cuban mahogany and Lutz spruce are very nice tonewoods, and they can be a wonderful combination (My generalization, based on the guitar I have with the same woods).
